What is a Youth Counsellor?

Youth counsellors work for a variety of employers, including educational institutions, religious organizations and social services agencies.

Job duties of youth counsellors vary depending on their specialty and employer. Generally, they supervise and interact with children or teenagers, assisting them in resolving problems and ensuring their physical and emotional needs are being met. Youth counselors may specialize in a mental health area such as childhood depression, abuse or ADHD.

What is the Pay?

The average pay of a Youth Counsellor/Worker in Australia is $70 000 AUD per year, however this will vary depending on the work environment.

To provide a more accurate figure the average hourly pay is $36.00!

 

What is the Course like?

This course has 3 modules covering Adolescent Psychology and Child Psychology and 1 elective of your choice.

The course is completely self-paced and online with full tutor support! This course will prepare you to work with children and adolescents, counselling them for their various needs.

Upon completion of this course you will be qualified to work as a Youth Coach, or why not continue study and become a Registered Counsellor!
