Medical Receptionist Certification covers Medical Terminology and Human Biology as its core modules in order to give the student a good understanding of the human body as well as the various medical terms used in an everyday medical environment. Students can choose an elective of their choice from a range of electives to suit their needs or the skills required.
Medical Receptionists perform much of the administrative duties associated with a doctor’s office and hospitals. Medical receptionists’ tasks will generally include answering the telephone, filing medical records, completing insurance forms, scheduling appointments/follow-ups with patients, billing, bookkeeping, and greeting patients upon arrival. In many practices, especially smaller ones Medical Receptionists will also perform marketing duties for the practice. They also will have to deal with patients who are distressed many times with illness or pain.
