Covid has affected us in more ways than we can possibly predict. The ripple it has created has had a huge impact on the way we work, live and play. Changes which would have occurred anyway in 20 years have been pushed to occur in 5.
And it is not all bad.
Experts are predicting the traditional 9.00-5.00 Job will be extinct by early 2030s. Gosh that is not far at all, if you look at it in 6 years we will be in 2030s. scary or what.
So, what are people going to do without working an office?
50% will be freelancers and the other 50% might work remotely in a hybrid model of remote with staff meetings, which is already in place at lot of workplaces.
Coming back to the freelancers, they will inspire a whole new economy called the gig economy. What is gig economy?
Simply put it is doing gigs at their will. So, they might do a job or a bunch of jobs and then take a break and come and get few more gigs. It is a point 2.0 version of contract jobs.
But here is the news! They will potentially earn more doing this than the traditional employees.
The simple formula here is specialised skills which have global demand will go for premium rates.
In the future everyone will be an entrepreneur. The age of micro businesses is coming fast, people will have multiple micro businesses and won’t rely on just one.

- Develop specialised skills: This is a no brainer but still pointing it out. Stand out from the crowd, develop skill sets and package them to give your clients the best. Train in areas which you need to upskill. - AI is here to stay: Don’t freak out about AI. It is a useful tool and if you harness its power you will be way ahead of others. Learn how to use AI to your advantage.
